“How many directors does it take to screw in a light bulb?”
ANSWER: “100. One to actually screw it in, an the other 99 to say, ‘I could have done it better.”
Ok. Just say it. All you directors out there… Go ahead, because I know you’re thinking it…
What’s this lady doing writing about directing and producing? What kinds of credits does she have? What’s her reel like? What awards has she won? She’s never even been to Sundance… She’s got some nerve!
Stop right there. Before you continue any further, I have something to say that will surprise you…
You’re right.
That’s right…
There are a lot of you out there that could have just as easily offered your wisdom as a website/blog.
But I sat down and actually wrote this up, so by virtue of taking action it qualifies me to write all this.
I love directing. I enjoy producing. I’d say I have a natural aptitude for both directing and producing, and I know more about it than people just starting out, so maybe I can help them the same way my wonderful, generous and wise mentors have graciously helped me.
Maybe I can give an actor the gift of creative freedom by helping him to realize that everyone starts knowing nothing and that all of us build from there, and that he actually holds the power in his court to not only do his art, but do it so that it advances his career.
I hope I have that sort of impact. That would mean a lot to me.
If you want to learn more about me you can go several places on the net. The first is my blog. It used to be about my achievements and experiences with this wacky world we call the Entertainment Industry, but I was getting bored writing about… well… me, and so now I write about nothing in particular… whatever happens to be fascinating me at the time. Honestly, I might pull it down because I’m still kind of bored with it. Or I might just blend it with this site and write about topics that would be more useful to the people taking the time to read it.
My director page has information about the work that I’ve done (only info as a director, not as a producer or the various crew positions I have held).
And here are a couple other links to networking sites:
