It was a lazy Thursday yesterday when I shot this. I stayed in all day editing and was in the middle of working and thought “I should post a vlog update.”
If you like any of the following videos, please give them a “Funny” rating (by clicking on the word “funny” below the screen) on Funny or Die.
Hiring Pundits: I directed, wrote and edited this one.
Wide World Of Bowling
(My comments) Good job on Graphics and greenscreen. Might want to stand a little further away from greenscreen next time. The outline around the actors will be better.
Sometimes people used to writing for theater don’t realize that people are used to watching video with a lot of different shots, so it would have been cool if they had cut to “The Bulldozer” bowling or something like that… Especially if he was drunk when he bowled or other physical comedy. This would have added to the comedy and also made it more visually interesting. I’m very impressed with the ambitious use of graphics, though. Very cool, and most of them looked good!
VEGAS 1404 News
(My Comments) I like that they are shooting downtown Vegas. Very interesting area… I’m not involved with this but if I was, i would be highlighting the positive stuff going on… The artists, the new businesses to improve the area, something about themselves (Vegas 1404), First Friday, new theaters…
Everyone knows that Vegas has pimps and hookers and druggies… but why is that news? I think they’re still testing out this genre and it will get tighter as they go on. And I have a tendency to look for the up-side of things, and that may not be what they are going for which is cool. All voices are necessary in the world of art and flimmaking. Good job, guys!
THEY ARE ESPECIALLY LOOKING FOR PRODUCTION PEOPLE AT ALL LEVELS!
And as a side note… (in alignment with the general M.O. of this blog) Vegas 1404 started without any production people and as they have continued to create more and more projects, they have acquired more and more help. That is the power of action and the power of momentum and I highly commend them for that. This is a great group to get involved with, and if you’re in town, I recommend you check it out.
I have already written about the blog Self Reliant Film, and there is another post that I think you would be interested in.
He is doing a survey of individuals who are making films in areas that are NOT in the filmmaking centers of the country (L.A. and New York).
So if you’re making films and you’re not in these areas, you might want to nominate yourself or other people you know for each of the states (don’t worry about filling in the blank for each state… just the ones where you know filmmakers.)
(LIke me… In Arizona… It’d be cool if you wrote me in for AZ!)
And I actually did nominate people in NY and LA when they asked for New York and California. That’s where I know the best filmmakers are for that state, and I don’t think that he was against nominating people in the filmmaking centers… I just think that he also wanted to get a wider scope of the country.
I mentioned earlier this week that I shot a series for Halloween on NAZ Today about The Ghosts of Flagstaff.
I have the clips but I have not able to upload them so I’m just going to send you to the site for now. I will probably upload them to YouTube soon so that you don’t have to sit through the whole show (fascinating as it may be).
The most interesting story for me was the Weatherford Hotel, not because of the stories as much as because something very weird came up in the footage.
There are these two black misty clouds that move through a wall from background to foreground and then out of frame.
At first I thought that it was my camera technique, but when I looked at it a few times and showed other people, I was left wondering it perhaps we did see SOMETHING paranormal (and so were they…)
If you watch, please leave your comments and let me know what you think. (about the black mist, the stories, the shooting, etc…)
Just letting you know I shot a got to shoot a series of packages for NAZ Today on the Ghosts of Flagstaff to celebrate Halloween…
I don’t have the links yet… I will post them soon…
Might be able to post the clips here. Had a lot of fun shooting this one! Though those pesky ghosts gave me a bit of technical trouble on the editing end (which is apparently what ghosts do and one of the ways they impact the physical world.)
I’m not sure this is really an appropriate place to post this, given that it has little to do with filmmaking, but I figured I would do so anyway.
It might help some of you out because, like myself, I know that a lot of my readers are artists in many different regards… filmmakers, writers, painters, musicians… and I want to get the word out.
I am a DJ at KJAK 1680am that broadcast (live streaming) around the globe on the Internet at www.kjack.org.
We also have a video feed there where you can watch me in the booth.
Anyhoo, my current shift is on Fridays, 5pm-6:30pm ARIZONA TIME!!!!
ARIZONA is the rebel state (along with Hawaii) when it comes to Daylight Savings time. We don’t change our clocks… which means we are the same time as California in the summertime (Pacific Time) and the same time as Colorado in the winter time (Mountain Time).
So right now my show starts at 8pm for those of you on the East Coast, but it will be 7pm between November 1, 2009 and March 14, 2010.
The other reason I am posting is because I am requesting that musicians and comedians send CDs of their material. We are interested in recent material… The Copyright date should be 2009 or we probably won’t put it in our rotation.
Comedy is less likely to make it into the rotation, but I have a special affection for it, so I can play it on my shift.
All material should be clean… no swear words or anything that the FCC would raise an eyebrow about. (The general rule at the station is “when in doubt, don’t play it”, so keep it as clean as possible.)

As promised in June (I’m a slacker, I know) here is a vlog and a new comedy movie online at YouTube from 80’s chicks, Brittany and Tiffany!
As I mentioned in the vlog, there is an upside to me taking so long to get this up here… I am learning Final Cut Pro (Finally!) and have been able to practice with this project. So it might take a while for me to get the edited version to you, but here is an unedited clip.
Another reason why it’s taking a while is because, honestly, almost the whole thing cracks me up. I’m finding it very difficult to cut because I don’t want to eliminate much of it.
And it was not scripted, so it’s not like I have the framework of a script to work from.
Enjoy and please let me know what you think of the new comedy movie!
Here’s another short comedy movies online from Vegas 1404… I’m in this one. I play Jen, the one in the black dress, er, the one in the black dress with the giant green Las Vegas Margarita beverage holder… oh, and the very visible pink bra with the black dress…
We had a great time shooting and it was really cool to see my friends.
