This month I was cast in a spec commercial with a company called Toy Quest! The product is called Foo Foo Dogs and they are really cute! I was happy enough that I was going to be saying the words “Foo Foo Dog” on camera with a straight face (How often does that happen?) but once I saw what they were, I must say I was genuinely impressed by the product. The toy is orented toward pre-teen girls. It is a stuffed animal dog that comes in a little doggie purse, similar to how Paris Hilton carries her dog. They are adorable and I think I’m going to ask for one for Christmas next year! ;-P
See, this is a spec commercial (as in, no pay for now) because the commerical we shot last week is only going to be played at a toy convention in Japan next month. If the toy gets picked up by a distributor, like Toys R Us, we will reshoot the commercial (for $$$) and it will be shown next year, probably just before and during the holiday season (of 2005).
I played a reporter in the commerical. I interivew 12 year olds about their Foo Foo Dog. There was one point where I had to improvise an interview with one of the 12 year olds and just started rattling questions off to her at a rapid fire pace. It was so much fun. The questions were really random and specific and the crowd around us just loved it. The coolest thing was that the girl kept up with me and bantered back. Maybe she trained at the Groundlings in between Girl Scout meetings. And I bet it looked awesome on camera!
I’ve been auditioning a bit more lately… mostly for comedic rolls. That’s cool with me. I thought I wanted to do some heavy stuff, but in November I really had the urge to lighten up the material I was choosing and what was being chosen for me. And the universe delivered.
Things have slowed down a bit as the year comes to a close. Typical. Happens every year. I am resting and replenishing myself during the holiday season.
I am so happy about all that I have accomplished this year, and so excited about the upcoming year! I feel like I am in a great position to thrive in 2005.
