Two Days Before Shoot

Unless you are playing catch up with the other phases, there are only two tasks to do two days before the shoot

The first is to confirm and/or pick up your equipment.

If you haven’t already picked up the equipment you are borrowing from friends, neighbors, associates, then take care of that today.

If the rental houses will let you pick up what you need a few days early, that will be helpful because that will allow you to focus on other issues once things start moving fast (and they will start moving fast).

Give the rental houses a call and see what they say. If they’re cool with it, then go pick up your rental. If they’re not cool with it, then you are just confirming your reservation for the day of the shoot.

The second is to confirm the location(s)

This is pretty self-explanatory, but it’s better to do it than to arrive and all of a sudden you have all these people ready to work and you don’t have a place to shoot.

Be sure you have the name and cell phone number of the person that is going to let you into the space. Also, be sure to let them know the time YOU intend to arrive (which is about an hour earlier than the earliest crew call time.)

By confirming two days ahead of time, you have piece of mind that the location is secure and if it’s not as secure as you thought, 2 days will give you enough time to find another place, even if it’s a bit of a race against the clock.

I’ve never lost a location, but I know plenty of producers who have. This is a worthwhile prepatory step.
